Damian’s Live Chat

Posted by Sarah  Published in Quote of the Day

So all of you by this time, I’m sure, realize how in absolutely in love with Damian McGinty I am. Anyways, he hosted a live chat on Stickam last night. He answered questions from 60,000 people in 30 minutes to an hour (they were simple questions) but there was one answer that I found super [...]

Hope….it’s time again

Posted by Sarah  Published in Nearby Updates and Info, Other Articles

Watching the news today, I saw the story of young Patrick Lyons Jr. He was named for his father, a NY firefighter whom he never met. Patrick Sr. was on dispatch on that fateful day– 9/11/01. There was something the newscaster said, while showing that the fire trucks had the names of each firefighter lost [...]

Hope and writing

Posted by Sarah  Published in Quote of the Day

Being a writer makes one a hopeless romantic. I should know. So does Rika. So what do you do when you fall for someone, but the feeling’s not reciprocal? As a writer, there are many options–but generally just one or two get chosen. The first: you write out your tragedy, eventually placing the character based [...]

All My Underdogs

Posted by Sarah  Published in Quote of the Day

I Love P!nk. Especially “Raise your glass”, here’s today’s quote. So Raise your glass if you are wrong, in all the right ways. All my underdogs. We will never be, never be anything but loud. This is also pretty much the motto of the TNF staff. Why? Because: People say we’re wrong, We have all [...]

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I just started back to school, and we all know how hectic that gets But I’m back today with a quote!  This one I actually got off of Rika’s other website. Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal. Don’t ever take [...]

Emma Watson Quote

Posted by Sarah  Published in Quote of the Day

Most little girls dream of being the princess in all the fairy-tales they read. I never did. I wanted to be the knight in shinning armor. I wanted the girl to be the hero for once.  ……Which is probably why i love this quote so much. Young girls are told you have to be the [...]

Hey everybody! So I posted a random quote from National Treasure 2 on my facebook page the other day, and my friend brought up a very good point. The quote was from Ben Gates, talking to the President in the tunnels under the cellar. Everything I am is because of my ancestors My friend argued [...]

On July 4th family, friends, and relatives will be celebrating the United State’s independence from Britain, although we all just like cooking hot dogs on the grill, maybe getting a nice tan in the sun, and watching the fireworks at night. This was also the day when Continential Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. But [...]

Clocky: Crushing the Dreams of Snooze Button People Everywhere

Posted by Hope  Published in Technology

Here’s the catch: if you don’t wake up right away, or you hit the snooze button too many times, you’re going to have to get up and shut it off because it’ll be halfway across the room, thanks to it’s very own set of wheels. It purposely has a very annoying ringing sound that makes it impossible to sleep through- think of R2d2 from Star Wars.

Hybrid cars

Posted by Hope  Published in Cars

The only real big difference between normal cars and hybrid cars is that hybrid cars have a special system that captures braking energy, which is then stored in an onboard battery.

People are now picking hybrids because hybrids are the most gasoline efficient of all cars, they typically get 48 to 60 mpg. That’s great, but it’s only about 20% to 35% better than a fuel efficient gasoline powered vehicle such as the Honda Civic in which gets 36 mpg. When you compare prices, however, hybrids cost from $19,000 to $25,000 and gas saver cars cost $14,000 to $17,000.

Not only is the hybrid cars fuel efficient, it is also “green” for the environment, and we all know this website is definitely pro-environment. But hybrid cars offer more than just great fuel economy, they offer many green advantages as well. Where pollution is the worst (large cities), it produces smaller emissions when you’re in those stop-and-go traffic jams.

Applaud Japanese companies because the two hybrid cars that are the most popular are the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius. Come on, U.S., catch up!

You cannot wish for something you never wanted. Rika’s Thoughts: Wishes are born out of goals; often times goals that are difficult or impossible. Should 16 year olds be able to vote?
