Red Alert!

About this page

This is the ‘Red Alert! Global Emergencies‘ page. This is the space for you to check to see what emergencies are going on where. Updated weekly (and usually even more often than that) by Rika. It is a new page, so don’t expect it to have a lot of content right off the bat.

Darfur

Problem: Extreme violence is breaking out, people are getting killed in conflicts and from diseases and malnutrition. Read about the whole problem in this article.

What you can do: visit the websites of the organizations helping out, or fundraisers to help raise money and awareness for this cause. Any little thing you can do- bringing the issue up in conversations, etc- to let people know what is going on, the better.

Animal Abuse

Problem: Animals all over the world are being abused, hurt, and even killed this is not a laughing matter. What have animals ever done to us? We’ve taken away their homes, shelter, food, and often times killed them. Cats and dogs deserve good homes, and we should give them that! Read more in this article.

What you can do: By just treating animals with respect, adopting an animal from a shelter instead of a pet store where they get their animals from puppy mills, (read more about these mills here) or donating to organizations like ASPCA, you can help to save many lives.

Afternote:

Most of these problems can be solved if everyone took a minute of their day just to acknowledge and do something, no matter how small. With time, we could change the world.

More Global Emergencies will be added progressively. Please check back, and if you find an issue worthy to be on this page just post it in the comments box.

If you know of any nonprofit organizations that should be added in the ‘organizations helping out’ section for any issue, just go to the comments box and post it. Be sure to include the link and name of the organization.

Why does the red alerts page have no comments? You’d think it would have zillions because these are red alerts and arise some serious issues that people are open to share opinions and comment on but no up until this point there was not a single comment. :(

I just noticed it. I looked at the tabs bar for the first time in ever today. I thought it was just Jala’s Books.

No wonder Jala gets all the pageviews! Her page is upstaging everyone else’s!
