Psychology, Mind Reading Video Games, and Kendra

The human brain is very complex, and you see these new discoveries about it every day. Emotions and feelings, often times, are more complicated than anything else our body can do. Why do certain people feel certain ways? Why are women often times more organized? The list goes on…

No doubt we will know more secrets of the human brain as time progresses, but being able to figure out more information more quickly would speed up other discoveries as well.

An example of this is the latest in video games, slated to come out this winter: the Epoc. A game that uses the EEG brain signals to control a video game, this shows what we can do with technology and knowledge of the brain. The technology, as it turns out, is older and until now hasn’t been thought to be able to be so flexible. This is a perfect example of how new knowledge of the brain can turn old technology towards new uses!

The Epoc: (read about it here)

The Epoc

Now this all ties into our site. Kendra, our newest writer, wants to help discover the reasoning behind ideas, emotions, and thoughts in a simple way: by polls. So for the sake of science, take her polls! Every once in awhile I’ll come out with a new post summing up the results of her polls and what they mean. Maybe, if we can get enough participation, we can really get somewhere with our research!

Why can’t I be a writer, besides my deep-seated hatred of the communist infection in humanity?

I can only imagine the horror you’d inflict upon our poor readers if you start writing :D Or, worse, I’d be pushed even farther down the list on the list of whose winning the staff contest, which, by the way, Piratical Lord of the Guitars is in first as of today. (Not Jala for once! *gasp*)

Don’t be selfish any more than your communism forces you to be, Rika.

I have all the power over here you know! And for the millionth and first time, I am not a communist. I’m an environmentalist.

What? Jala, Socrates, PLOTG, CFW, do you here this? I am offended! She’s becoming a psycho, power-hungry-

There goes all of the order we once had on the staff! Helloooo chaos.

  9. Comment by DarkPrinceofAwesome on April 28, 2008 9:24 am

So I take it that I am now on the staff. If not, then I can’t possibly affect the stability of it. Victory is mine!

*sighs* Yes, you’re on the staff. *watches all hope of an organized staff fly out the window*

@Piratical: By the way, Piratical Lord of the Guitars, I don’t know what exactly they’re trying to acheive with their design. It’s a little scary looking to me. I mean, I know that their trying to moniter brain waves, but couldn’t they change the design a little to make it at least look like a helmet?

    Helmets: LaMe
Torture Devices: CoMmUnIsT (to Rika, that’s the equivalent of very not lame)

For the millionth time, I think democracy is the best idea! I’m not a communist, thank you very much, and I think that style counts when you’re working on a video game device. My opinions, of course.

    Mh. Hm. I do.

To rika on helmet design: well they could change the design to look sora’s hair (your version) that would be a lot less scary and would make people a lot more happy instead of looking at the death helmet and running

technically he’s still not on the staff he’s a contributor.. so not much of a victory.

  17. Comment by Nero on May 22, 2008 9:15 pm

    But a victory nonetheless!!
