What You Will Need For The End of The World

Posted by Sarah  Published in Apocalypse Tips, Lists

I doubt the world really will end in 2012, but it never hurts to be prepared. Well, there are a few things you will need (And they’ll be good to have even if the world DOESNT end ;D) This list is compiled of all the basic necessities. 1. Chocolate. Lots of chocolate. It’s brain food. 2. [...]

Quote of the Day

Posted by Sarah  Published in Quote of the Day

April 30th, 2010 Life isn’t about finding yourself, It’s about creating yourself. Never let anybody tell you that you CAN’T do something…unless its inappropriate/hazardous to your health….create yourself in a way that YOU are proud of. A way that helps you achieve your dreams and reach your potential. *Love, Sarah*

Quote of the Day

Posted by Sarah  Published in Other Articles

*NOTE: Sorry, everybody, but these will only be coming every two days now!  Thanks for your support. ~Love, Sarah~* April 27, 2010 The proof that intelligent life exists elsewhere is that it hasn’t tried to contact us. My only commentary on this one is “Very true, why didn’t I think of that?” *Love, Sarah*

Please Tell Me You’re Not Confused

Posted by Calister F. Wells  Published in Editorials

Several people are confused about what The Nearby Future is about. “I was confused,” one reader told me before I karate chopped him in the face. “What is this site all about?” Someone else asked before I drop-kicked them over three and a half continents. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to our website. [...]

Down the Road: A Recipe for the Future and the Past

Posted by Rika  Published in Editorials

High school reunions, time capsules and Facebook are all great at reminding us how much we’ve changed over the years, and how our “when I grow up I want to be…” statements have changed. Several times. It’s a magical moment when you uncover a photo, video, memory or person from your past that meant a [...]

Glee and Chuck Hiatuses Cause Massive Volcanoes and Drag Sandwich Sales Down

Posted by Rika  Published in Editorials, Entertainment and Media, world

Ladies and gentlemen, there are several things that are known to cause apocalyptic situations: Evil dictators Nuclear warfare When good TV gets canned When Glee, the show with barbed wire wit and snappy music numbers, and Chuck, the action-packed spy thriller/comedy with an endearing romantic angle, both encountered cruel and unusual hiatuses, the world went [...]

When A Writer

Posted by Sarah  Published in Other Articles, Uncategorized

Waves surge and swell around me. Lapping at my feet. I search, not quite frantically, for a way through.  I see no opening in the mass of endless sea, streching as far as the horizon. The rock upon which I balance is now soaked. The cold water sprays onto my feet and I welcome the refreshing sensation.  As I accept my [...]

Battle to the Death: Frozen Yogurt vs. Ice Cream

Posted by Rika  Published in Health

Five feet from my desk, Calister F. Wells emerges from a nearby broom closet. I narrow my eyes at the staff member that currently holds the position for second highest amount of views.

“So, she’s trying to convince you, huh?”

“Convince me of what?” I ask, looking around to see where the ominous music is coming from. Calister is holding a boom box. I walk over and turn it off, crossing my arms. “Jala just gave me an article.”

“She’s trying to make you believe Frozen Yogurt is better than ice cream.”

The Nearby Future: Back In Action!

Posted by Rika  Published in Nearby Updates and Info, Rika's Announcements

Sure, us writers of The Nearby Future can blame our lack of writing on our schedules. Or even our conflicting jiu jitsu classes. But there was a real culprit behind our lack of writing. Our theme. Our old color blocks theme killed our ideas. With a lead pipe, in the conservatory with Mr. Green. So, [...]
