It’s a common situation: you’re in your car, perusing the radio stations when a particular topic comes up that interests you. Today, there’s a good chance it might have been about Obama’s speeches.
Listening to a political commentator after I left the house today, I remembered a phrase an old language teacher held dear to her heart: most speeches are just eloquent ways 0f saying nothing.
Recently, his speeches seem like a lot of the same stuff, like the speechwriter ran out of things to say. So, he’s been saying an awful lot of nothing.
It seems like a lot of what we listen to is decreasing in meaning; ads, speeches, music- even TV shows! What happened to the deep meaning embedded into stories? Eli Stone had that, but it was canceled because it wasn’t a brainless comedy and had a deeper meaning to it that most were to lazy to dig for.
So, what’s the meaning of this post?
It’s better to talk in a straightforward manner and actually say something instead of dodging important issues but packing in a lot of fancy words.
